Street Strong Cellini Pouch : Luxury Gibeciere for Buskers and Magicians : Handmade Saddle Stitched K-Leather
"The best there is or ever will be. True Quality"
-- Jerry Foster, International Magicians Society 2025 "Merlin" Award Holder
"Ask anyone who has worn a [pouch] and they will tell you how it makes the performance of magic easier. Everything you need is at hand... no fumbling or hesitation." -- Jim Cellini, Dreamer's Highway
Over ten years in the making. Since my very first silent street performances as a teenager in Harvard Square, I have been performing some version or other of the classic Cups and Balls. I originally loaded out of my hoodie pocket, but it wasn't great. In my research on street magic, I learned about the buskers pouch. Over the course of the next several years, I'd purchased nearly every pouch and gibeciere that's on the market.
Some were made of thin leather lined with fragile fabric. Other buskers and I discussed having to rip out the lining entirely. Other pouches were enormous with wide openings that invited scrutiny that it could not withstand. I bought all the Cellini style pouches available, and commissioned several custom ones. During all this, I was learning the Cups and Balls, as well as other routines that involve the pouch.
After a couple seasons of busking with my favorite custom Cellini pouch, the leather was starting to show signs of wear and tear at the stitches, and creases and strain from heavy loads. I made myself a clone of it out of ballistic nylon, using a lock stitch awl. It was waterproof, durable, and worked well for me for almost a decade.
Years of use and abuse finally damaged one of the rolled edges in the inside pocket. It's nearly impossible to fix. It seemed like it was time to make a better gibeciere. I picked out the best design elements of all the pouches in my collection, and combined them.
Since most Cellini pouches on the market were much larger than I needed, I was able to make it perfect for four final loads, from four lacrosse balls to four large oranges. The subtle design, inspired by Hermés, creates the illusion of the pouch being smaller than it is.
For unmatched quality, I decided to exclusively use the strongest leather and stitching method to produce my ideal pouch.
Kangaroo Leather is an exotic leather that is renowned for its durability. 10 times stronger than cow leather, it's the leather of choice for motorcycle racing suits. The vegetable tanned k-leather we use is luxury quality-- supple, smooth, light, and robust. Decadent double layering of the k-leather helps maintain the shape of the pouch, whether empty or full.
Each Street Strong Cellini Pouch is cut, burnished, and stitched by hand, a process that takes the individual artisan over twenty hours of work. Saddle stitching by hand is a method used for horse saddles and high-end luxury bags. It produces the most secure seam that will outlast any machine or lock stitched item.
What this means for you: your Street Strong Cellini pouch will survive daily wear and tear better than any other pouch on the market. It makes practicing and performing fun and easy. Imagine how much better will your magic be when you have the ease of performing provided by your pouch.
